A thread to show, brag about and/or discuss the latest (and potentially greatest) waste of money investments...
To start things off, I bought this because my headphones just weren't loud enough anymore:

Just bought a WiFi adapter for my PC.. after I moved to the new apartment I do not have a UTP cable available on that side of the room. So I bought a TP-Link adapter. Not bad for my 1Gb fiber connection. Speed is very high 600 a 700mbps so fine for a WiFi connection. Not as high as via UTP but fast enough. Now it is waiting on my sim gear to arrive..

Gave in to temptation and ordered a Quest Pro, hoping for a step up from the Reverb G2 Comes into range with the very nice £500 reduction this week, it will be interesting to see how it does PCVR

Would love to buy a VR set but first I have to re-buy my sim gear. Once done, I have to upgrade my PC and then after 500+ years, I’m finally able to buy a new VR set. Will be a shock I guess, coming from a Oculus Rift.

I just managed to charge it up and get it set up as a standalone unit last night, but first impressions are pretty positive. Whole package is definitely excellent build quality, sound is very impressive for hidden earpieces, seems on a par with the G2. Screen is nice and bright with good colour. There is some screen door visible, but the lenses are very good and the picture is bright and clear across the whole fov, unlike the G2 that had a great screen but pretty small sweetspot. I'm still jiggling it about, but fov seems to be a big improvement over the G2. Controllers small and solid feeling, very accurate. I was considering a Pimax Crystal this year, but I think on balance I'll be happy with this as an overall package as it's a super neat and tidy form factor. The Crystal seems very clumsy looking compared to the Quest Pro. I'll let you know how it is for PCVR once I'm up and running, but the screen res is actually less than the G2 so I don't anticipate too many performance issues, but you never know.

Is this the point where you start having regrets selling it? Yes of course. I did not want to sell it. It was needed because of no space for it. Now we have settled a bit, there is still no space for a full size rig. So I have to make choices and I did. Back to sim racing But with a stripped-down set up.

PCVR is the part that bothers me the most with all these stand-alone headsets. So many questions popping up but only very few answers on the internet. I have never been interested in stand-alone stuff (running racing sims only) but there isn´t much choice left anymore. I heard that those headsets with a USB-C connection to the PC aren´t able to transmit enough data to be running in native resolution, so only the ones with HDMI connection will run properly and without any compression? Is the Meta software compressing the data right away or am I able to set compression to my liking? Also I wonder whether I can run the headset without the battery installed once I connect it to the PC via cable. Does that work? Or do I have to replace the battery one day even though I never use it? Is there enough power from the PC to keep the battery fully charged while gaming, so that I can run endurance races with no issues? To me all that is pretty nebulous and it was holding me back from buying one of these headsets when my G2 was broken.

Well, after cancelling an order due no stock, I just ordered new Fanatec gear.
CSL DD Pro 8nm, CSL Elite v2 pedals. McLaren GT3 v2 And the cheapest wheel, the CSL p1 v2.
Happy to be able to race again, even it is a bit less than I used to. Beside the DD of course. Hope it won’t take 2 months to ship..

With a cheap seat and about 1 and a half square meters place you are back in the race www.motedis.com/de/SimRacing-Konfigurator

Wow... that's some amazing stuff 👍 Thanks. Had the v3 pedals in my mind but after reading a lot of reviews telling that the break pedal is perhaps even better than on the v3”s I decided that the v2 is fine as well. and the round rim is the cheapest available but for my purpose more than sufficient. I’m very curious how the DD feels and how the McLaren V2 behave. I had the v1 at the time and was really great but got a refund due to the known shifter problems. this evening I’ll try to mount the gear to the stand..
