I’m planning to order a PS5 and a wee bit later a PSVR 2 as well. Because I really miss racing in VR. I don’t want to spend thousands of euros on a new PC and VR. So the first possibility for me is a PS5 and PSVR 2. Have had many PlayStations and XBoxes so I’m not new to console gaming, I own a Xbox Series X as well at the moment. Bought it because the PS5 ws not available at the time. I’m happy with this console but no VR atm and not in the near future as well. If I may believe the Internet.
Ordered GT7 in advance as it is currently on “sale” . Now I only have to order a PS5. I’m reading more about GT7, (I already know that it is not a sim like AMS2 or likewise but more arcade). What me concerns the most is the complaint about the GFX quality of GT7. As I may believe the users, it looks worse than GT7 on the ps4. How are your experience with GT7?
How is the AI for example. I’m not an online racer so I always need a decent AI to race against. VR wise I’m not concerned as almost everybody is enthusiastic about GT7 in VR..

I’m not an online racer so I always need a decent AI to race against. VR wise I’m not concerned as almost everybody is enthusiastic about GT7 in VR.. I think you'll like the PS5. I'd say GT7 is somewhere between arcade and sim, sim-cade i think it's called. Not as hardcore as a full sim, but has more realism to the physics than an arcade racer. (But still not as much setup tuning detail as our beloved PC2, lol) I've never played GT7 on the PS4, so i have no idea of the graphical quality of that version. Obviously the PS5 version would look better, however given that it was released on both consoles, i'd say the PS5 game had to be watered down a little, and possibly wouldn't make full use of the console's capabilities. (to make sure it would still run on PS4) But you know what people on the internet are like, i'd take anything they say with a pinch of salt, lol. Except me, you can believe my words, haha. And i think it looks pretty damn good.
AI, they can sometimes be annoying. They tend to not be aware of your position on the track. And if you go for a late brake divebomb, or a sneaky inside pass, they'll most likely try to put their car into the space where yours currently is, like it doesn't even exist. Happens to me a lot, lol. And then i worry they've taken my clean race bonus away from me. They can also navigate some corners much slower than you, causing you to run up their ass. But apart from that, AI is good. I think you have 2 difficulty levels you can set it on. Really haven't tested the higher one yet.
I'm still enjoying it, but i spend most of my time doing up drift cars. Plus, at the end of each month, they do a free content update, and add some new cars to the game. Sometimes they'll add a new track, but it's usually vehicles. Only problem is i never have enough in game credits to get them all..

Thanks.. will see when it arrives. Lol. Only I just read that the PS5 is not a master with 1440p screens. VVR does not work. That is a bummer. I have a 1440p monitor. I use it for PC sim racing. I have of course an TV as well 4K HDR but I can’t move my rig in front of the TV. Yes it is possible but it is to much of a hassle. I hope I don’t need to buy a new gaming screen as well. And now suddenly I see all kinds of comments on PS5 info that I probably should what until the PS5 Pro will be released. Lol, waiting on newer hardware is waiting forever if you ask me. If I have to wait on the PS5 Pro, then wait a bit longer and buy the PS6 or wait just a little bit longer and buy the PS6 Pro. I want to have fun today, not waiting forever for a bit of fun that never arrives.

I'm sure you will like GT7, it's a beautiful looking game and has a real love of all things automotive. I've played it on both the PS4 and PS5 and while graphically there's not a massive difference - it looks great on both actually, it's the loading times that will make you glad you bought the PS5. Physics and handling are good enough I think, maybe not as much going on under you as the best sims, but it's very enjoyable to play, the upgrades make a noticeable difference to performance so there's a lot of fun in building a car to suit a certain race. AI is rubbish and I only have contempt for them, but if you see them as a moving chicane the catch the rabbit gameplay can be quite fun, especially as you get a 50% race bonus for avoiding crashes. Don't expect wheel to wheel battles though, opponents are really thick. Best approach is to love it for what it is rather than hate it for what it isn't.

Played them on the PS2 and PS4 at the time. These type of game are just for the car lovers. It looks nice and a zillion cars. Just for the fun.

Definitely need to do a BOAC livery next Womp (if you're taking requests ;p ) I don't know if Tank is still checking in here from time to time or not (i hope he is) But if you are buddy, this one's for you. Better late than never, hahaha. Mix of planes, trains and automobiles in this shot..

Sadly.. as I thought it might.. GT7 has just left me cold. It's just too clean.. too clinical.. too sterile for me. The engine and ambient sounds are too digital and processed for my ears.. I never really feel like I'm in a fast car if you know what I mean. It is an incredibly polished game and very pretty.. but I always thought GT games were too polished and too pretty to feel real enough to get lost in.
I'm seriously thinking of ditching the PS5, which has just sat there like an expensive paperweight doing bugger all for a year!
I loved Forza Motorsport 3 and (especially) 4.. I think I may have to revisit my old love on the Xbox Series X and just pray for some more sim-like games to be released down the line.

That's where P-Cars 2 was good. It was a bit more raw and brash than other racers. Something about it made it feel more real.
You should do some online free run rooms, those can be anything but clean & clinical, hahaha. Especially drift rooms, where you get all sorts who don't know how to do anything. Don't know how to look at a map, drift, or even play the damn game.
Just don't go getting the new Forza game. I hear it's not very good. And by 'not very good', i mean a broken mess and kinda shit. Seen some video reviews on youtube.

I know that Forza was a bit of a broken mess at release, but I've been following a few streamers since to see for myself. I tend to watch Rory Alexander most as he's a pretty honest guy when it comes to racing games/sims.. he plays iRacing, ACC, Forza Reboot and GT etc as his job every day on YT and doesn't just diss games because of what they are/are not.
Thankfully FM Reboot has released a couple of important patches that have solved the worst issues (on console at least).. matchmaking is far better in the daily races for example. I do think the netcode needs some work though.. but that may just be down to me watching on a barely-capable Win 10 laptop that does cause stutter on video playback.. my old pc died sadly. I tend to avoid 'reviews' like the plague these days as most, if not all, are playing to their audience rather than being strictly honest.
I've missed FM as a jump in and play racer since they ruined the series with Forza 5 on the Xbox One, where they pandered to the Horizon crowd and ruined wheel support/FFB and the game physics. But from what I'm seeing, the old game is back, in a fledgling form for now. But T10 have stated that the game is built around a modular engine which they promise will radically evolve over time.. we shall see.
I've seen enough positives to head back to the Xbox as I can see nothing that appeals to me on the PS5 any time soon. I'll still keep it just in case though!

So John, GT7 had a fairly big update just recently. What are your thoughts on it?
I notice our old friend GT Sophy has returned as an opponent in selected quick race events.

Had a bit of a moment during a recent event in GT7. You know, one of those brown pants moments.. Or at least it would have been, if it were a real car, and i was really inside it.
