I hope you are all registered for Straight4´s newsletter? That will give you the chance to take part in polls, the current one is about the choice of tracks.

“Our vision for this new game is a hardcore racing sim with a commitment to bringing the community the kind of simulation and modding tools they want. PLAION immediately understood our ambition and potential and we have every confidence that this new partnership will play a defining role in pushing the sim racing industry to a whole new level of realism and fun,” - Ian Bell.
You see, EA doesn't understand that. I'm certain that during any sort of meetings with them, they just hear trumpet noises (like Charlie Brown's teacher) and every so often, the word 'money' pops up.
In the quiet words of Mr. Savoury: Fuck you, EA.

It looks like great progress is being made.. it's all very encouraging. Even if the 'progress' is being presented to us by the team that brought us the worst 'sim' ever and by the worst 'liars' ever to have (dis)graced the gaming world.. lol. I'm sure that Scaff and his GTP minions will be sailing very close to the wind regarding libel suits as I type. I do get the feeling that this 'new' project isn't quite as new as we are lead to believe.. I suspect that Ian has a sackful of assets and code that was kept well away from EA and their legal vultures/hitmen. Love you, Ian. Fuck you, EA.

Found out that the company he signed up with is part of THQN. Some people at THQN think Ian is a snake oil merchant... To be continued i guess.

I think Ian has left a few ruffled feathers in his wake over the years.. to say the very least. His past antics could well have hindered any efforts to join a disgruntled gaming studio for development etc.. I doubt if that would be the case if Ian and Straight4 are just utilising the publishing department. If anyone can create the virtual racing version of the Sistine Chapel, then paint huge cartoon penises on the heads of God and Adam just for fun.. it's Ian. Watch this space I suppose.

This will be a big deal. With what Reiza have done with the Madness engine plus the people who built the engine in the first place, and all that AI engineer stuff. Excellent news.

Now that Womp "complained" in another thread that there isn´t much going on on this forum (rightly), I thought about starting a thread about the new GTRevival. On the other hand I remember that when I asked you about what you currently waste your time with, I found that most of us are no longer into simracing. Then when I was going through the directory, I came across this thread which is more or less what I wanted to launch.
As there has been some vague information about GTRRevival recently, I wonder what you guys think about it and whether that may get you back behind the wheel maybe. So what are your thoughts so far? Really curious to hear.

Technically, i've never really been behind the wheel, as i've always played my racing games with a gamepad. But if they're releasing this title on consoles, and i'm fairly certain they are, then i'll pick it up. I'm keen to see how it turns out, and from what we've heard so far, it all sounds quite promising. If it ends up being like P-Cars 2, but even better, then i'm cool with that.
I wouldn't say no to some BeamNG style soft-body deformation damage physics either, but i won't be holding my breath for that one.
